Barbecue Dry Rub Recipes

One of the best barbeque dry rub recipes is one that my grandfather taught me. We used to spend the summers at my grand parents house in Alabama, and even though they had out houses and lived in a little old house, it was always worth it because of the barbeque. It was not until I was older that he actually gave me the recipe for his barbecue dry rub recipe, and now I want to share the spicy one with you.

The Guaranteed to Be Moist Banana Bread Recipe

Don't you just hate eating dry banana bread? I know I do. And the worst part is that it seems like almost every banana bread I try is incredible dry (you know, the kind of dry that literally shuts the top and bottom of your mouth together). That's why I had to come up with my own moist banana bread recipe. After a little experimenting in the kitchen, here's the recipe I came up with to guarantee a moist banana bread experience.

Baking Breads With Non-Wheat Constituents

Bread is a staple to a large proportion of the world's population and, at its simplest, it is a dough of wheat flour and yeast bound with water that uses the yeast as a rising agent and which is baked in an oven. Put this way, it would seem that a bread could be made with any flour. So you might expect Maize breads in the Americas, Rice breads in Asia and Millet or Sorghum breads in Africa. However, this ignores a truly amazing property of wheat and barley grains.

Peach Smoked Pork Butt on the Grill

There's something I absolutely love about pork BBQ. Maybe it's the fact that it's cooked all day, low and slow, and then smothered in sauce and served on a bun with coleslaw. Or maybe it's just the fact that it's so easy to make yourself; all you need is a little patience. Even on a gas grill you can whip up some real-deal southern BBQ. I don't care what the pit-masters say; I can fool them all with my BBQ. But sometimes I'm in the mood for pork without the BBQ.

Jamaican Food Recipes

Jamaica is home to a wide variety of different dishes, many of which making interesting use of spices. Although numerous different spices are used, two in particular which are found in many Jamaican recipes are Jamaican allspice and annatto. Jamaican allspice, which is also known as "Jamaican pepper", "pimento", or "pimenta", is a hot and fiery spice. Annatto is very unusual, it comes from the pulp which surrounds the seeds of the achiote tree, and tastes rather like pepper mixed with nutmeg.

Mango Fruit Shake, Barbados Style

It's another real hot day in Barbados and all this heat gives me a raging thirst as soon as I wake up in the morning. In order to deal with my early morning thirst, I always like to start the day off with a delicious cold glass of fruit juice made by my own fair hands. Living in Barbados is fantastic because all I have to do is walk into my garden and I have some trees with delicious local fruits on them.

Authentic Jerk Chicken Recipe

Jerk is perhaps the best known Jamaican style of cooking. Basically it is a technique for cooking meat that gives it a fiery spicy flavor that many people enjoy. In Jamaica, the jerk style of cooking has been traditionally used for cooking pork or goat meat, however it is increasingly being used for other meats as well, and even for fish and tofu! In other countries, it is probably fair to say that one of the most popular jerk dishes is jerk chicken.

Hungarian Goulash

Many people have eaten goulash at one point or another in the lives. In the United States and Canada for example, versions of goulash are quite popular as comfort food, and are often eaten with noodles or macaroni. As you may know, goulash has its origins in the central European country of Hungary, however the versions eaten in other countries are often so different from the original dish, that the principle resemblance to the Hungarian version of the recipe is simply the name!

Do you have a favorite restaurant? What about a favorite dish that you love eating at that restaurant? When I ask people, it seems that many do - although it also true that many of us have more than one favorite. Some people like baby back ribs, fajitas, paella, pot roast, or steak, whereas others enjoy burgers, fried chicken or pizza, but whichever one is your favorite, I am sure you love most when it is prepared in just the way that you like it.
