Alaskan Spot Prawn Boil

Before learning how to cook prawns, here are a few facts about the Alaskan spot prawn. Also known as giant spot shrimp, spot prawns are the largest species of prawn in cold water. They are also the largest of all the commercial species found off the coast of Southeast Alaska. The prawn is usually tan or reddish brown. They have distinct white horizontal lines on the shell and recognizable white spots on the first and fifth abdominal segments, hence its name.
